On May 14, 2016 the eight year old Bucks County Women’s Advocacy Coalition celebrated its 2nd anniversary as a 501c4 IRS designated organization. Such designation means that a financial donor may not claim a tax deduction for any monetary gift, and that the Coalition has more latitude in our engagement in political affairs and our influence on legislation.
The decision by the Board to apply for this designation (as opposed to a 501c3) represents a significant step forward for all the organizational and individual Partners in the Coalition, and a renewed trust on the part of the Coalition in the ongoing support of the citizens of Bucks County.
We have taken a careful approach to our work, one that is non-partisan in our advocacy and relentless in our efforts to effect institutional change in the Commonwealth’s systems and laws. Because of the Coalition’s integrity, it has earned the respect of many beyond Bucks County who find in our model much to replicate.
Women and their families are still under represented, under compensated, under served and under valued. Much remains to be done over the next years, and the Coalition is well positioned to carry out its mission.
Happy Anniversary to us! And thank you to all of our Partners, donors and supporters for your motivating support.
