If you want to see the toll that firearms are taking on our children, you need only look at the faces of the 26 teenagers shot and killed in Philadelphia this year — and 2017 isn’t over. You can see those we lost here in a recent column from the Philly.com (http://www.philly.com/philly/columnists/helen_ubinas/).
It’s so easy to say, well, that’s not my neighborhood.
But as Martin Luther King Jr. said, ““Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.”
As a society, we are failing to keep our young people — indeed, all our people — safe from firearms.
That’s why one of the Buck’s County Women’s Advocacy Coalition’s top priorities is to promote firearm safety and freedom from violence.
If you can’t face the devastation any longer, join us. Speak out. Learn to advocate for better laws. Or support the Coalition so it can teach others to speak up for those who no longer can.
